K guys, How have you setup ur modem? if u have ur subbed connected aswell, do u switch between both, enabling and disabling the nic's ? Can u access ur email through ur 'special' modem? What if u use a wireless router? I would like to know which is the easiest thing to do....

I have just swapped my subbed modem for the flashed one, it goes into my wireless router as normal. the subbed modem is just sat there.

Subbed modem becomes a door stop, unless you want to use it on another PC.
Everything will work as normal on your computer with the updated modem, you won't notice a difference.

Hi lads have you spoofed your network card mac ids?
I have read about this plus my friends modem went off line and he rang VM to moan about no web (not the sharpest tool in the box) and they told him he was running too services from that line, he only pays for one! (Sh#t I thought after he told me "I had set it up ") he has 4mb service but don't use his sub I just connected his flashed modem to the same network card in his pc which has the same mac id which is paired with his sub,s mac, (who knew lol) ffs vm DO track customers network cards mac ids then so a long story short I fitted him a new network card (which has a diff mac id) so vm cannot match him with his computer network card, so now vm dont know hes running another modem. phew Last edited by toolzkit; 29-09-08 at 10:43 PM. |

I've personally not spoofed my NIC MAC.
Never had a cable modem on any nic i have, so there should be no issue. Your friend may not be the sharpest tool in the box, but a tool non the less!

I have 2 modems set up in my room.
the Motorola Modified connected to one NIC on my machine with 20mb. and then the Ambit120 (subbed) modem connected to the router (network) and shares that connection out. I then have an ethernet cable going from the router to another NIC on my machine. This allows the 20mb connection not to be shared (selfish) and im still connected to the network with no interferance with the other modem
