Hi
Im new to all this and trying to figure out how to update my box. What is a euro blue and a euro red? What software do I need to do the updating with? Where do I go about getting the firmware to do it? I got a serial to usb connection so its all ready to be flashed but unsure what to do next really Thanks |

euro blue and red are earlier models of the eurovox
you need the firmware v1.1a (the chatterbox toolbar is a good place to start) but you can also get it here _http://www.box.net/shared/tmuhectkwo#1:17080644 you will need a null modem cable as well as your usb adaptor have a read of this post, its a different model but basics are the same. Thanks
Whats a null modem cable? The box came with a serial cable, is that the same? Ive put the usb to serial thing into my pc and it says installed correctly but under the usb devices, it says unknown device. Do you think it will still update with this? Its weird how they are serial as they are new boxes and no new laptops come with serial ports in this day and age. I did a channel scan and all the channels appear on the list, sky sports, movies, everything. But when I select it, it says "scrambled channel" so has the guy already flashed it for me and I just need to unscrable them? Or do the channels appear as default anyway? Cheers Last edited by nickc25; 29-09-08 at 01:50 PM. |

RS232 It goes into the back of the eurovox and into a pc with serial port, but my pc doesnt have serial port so got an adapter but not sure if it actually works.. |

a null modem cable looks the same as a rs232 but is wired differently, if he has sent one with the box it most likely will be a null modem type.
I don't have the pvr model but I doubt it will have come with the latest firmware, if you press the red button on the remote and get a choice of a couple of language options then you have the latest firmware on the box. Edit : also the latest firmware should automatically update the scrambled channels |

Just went into the menu and its
Model: DVB-XC EX5000 TDA S/W Ver: 1.0 ST4 Jul 04 2008 H/w Ver: 2.0t K5 +D Bootstra: v001 s/w build: Kuro So from this it looks like its not been updated at all. Is there a way to manually unscramble the channels until I can get a usb converter that actually works? |

If it's not got the updated firmware, I believe you can manually input the key codes using your remote. They are usually available on the chatterbox toolbar (don't have a link, but google should be able to help). There should be a sticky at the beginning of the forum telling you how to input the keys (only takes a couple of minutes, but V*gin have been known to change the keys pretty frequently, so it can be a pain)

in device manager/Ports (COM & LPT) you should be able to see your adaptor and which port it is connected to
your com port needs to be set to 1,2,3 or 4 you need to have drivers installed for your usb adaptor |
