Default Technomate 5400

Some advice, please. I have the dish, etc, but no receiver. I intend to purchase the TM5400 Super (from a supplier on this site, they appear to be VG), anyway.

Q1, I believe this receiver can record FTA channels, can it also record channels if I have a viewing card for the channel?

Q1, I hear a lot about patches, are these available for this machine, via the USB (ie, download from various websites), does this open more channels. Does this do the same type of job to the cams, but on a very limited range?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Euler

Yes you can now record both FTA and Scrambled channels with the Super version, the patch will open channels such as Premere World, Pulsat, Digi package plus many others but not Canal + nor DigitALB for these a Diablo Light and CAS3+ is needed.

Both the Diablo 2.3 Cam, all versions, and the MII+ card are currently opening DigitAlb, 16E, and Canal Digital, 1W.
To program the Diablo Cam you require a Cas programmer.
To Program the MII+ card you need a phoenix capable card programmer.

Actually, having registered, you can go to the bottom and change the 'skin' of the website to a more palatable light blue and white colour.

@ Euler

Look for the 'Technomate Section' somewhere midway on the site; it is useful to read the stickies there too FWIW.

You will find the patch on the alsat forum, scroll almost half way down and you will find the Technomate section, look for the Softwares sub section and click on the TM 5000 patch that equates to your receiver.
There are 2 different patches, for the different versions of the 5000 series:
the TM 5000 USB Series and the TM 5000 USB Super Series, is your receiver one of the new super series receivers or one of the older ones?
Click on the appropriate link and you will see the latest patch, by MAGIC, at the top of the page.
