Default Satlook Digital NIT Problem

Hi All.
I am an Installer of Sat TV systems and a newbie to Techwatch. I hope you can help with this one!
My Promax meter is past it's best and is far too heavy when I am up a ladder, so I brought a Satlook Digital NIT meter, second-hand, but it is in as new condition, at least on the outside! The problem I have is that the meter works perfectly when the charger is plugged in, but when the charger is taken out, it is completely dead.

My first thoughts are that the battery is finished, but because they are not too cheap and difficult to get hold of, (so I have been told), I thought I would check your forum to see if anybody else has come across this problem.

If you also think it is the battery, do you know where I can get one?

Just a suggestion, can you not replicate the function of the charger with an external battery pack ? eg. If the charger supplies 12vDC, obtain an "emergency light" 12v battery and make a lead from that to fit the charging socket.

Hi and thanks for your reply.

Yes, I guess I could do that, but I got the Satlook because it is smaller and lighter than the Promax I use now. If I have to have another battery connected to the meter 'on job' I probably would not be any better off in terms of size and weight.
