Hi, when transfering files from my main drive(sata) to my second drive(IDE) my computer really slows down and the transfer itself takes an age.. Is this common or have i got something wrong? I did have the IDE drive connected via usb for a while and transfering files was a breeze, i can't use the usb connector at the moment so i connected the drive to the IDE coonecter inside the pc, any help much appreciated..

Could be drivers or a problem with the drive, best to try it on the USB again and see how it goes. If its fine then maybe a problem with your IDE drivers or cable. What motherboard is it?
