I presume Eurovox is better than a Starview?! :-)
My main concern is being detected. I only have a cable broadband connection, in our place. Apparently we have plenty of signal going into our place as i asked the engineer who installed another inlet into the house. Apparently as there is no talk back the only way of being detected is through signal noise causing problems with neighbours. What are the chances of detection? Where is the best place to buy from? Are Virgin due to do any upgrades soon that renders Eurovox useless (such as a major way in decoding is done)? What other equipment do I need? (Serial cable?) Are there any boxes that offer HD output? Thanks for your help in advance! ![]() |

Yeah I was looking for a HD box too but I heard the only cable HD channel is something like BBC3 which......I don't think I've ever watched.
About the "firmware updating", I think the last time the Eurovox EX5000 PVR had to be updated due to VM was back on the 22nd of July (may be wrong?). They added a near-daily (if not daily) key change/roll but the latest firmware can get around this just fine. I'd recommend getting the TCB.cc toolbar to get the latest firmwares and keys and all the other great stuff this toolbar supplies. Happy Viewing!!!! ![]() Edit: oooh forgot to mention, to do the firmware upgrade you will need a null-modem cable (couple of quid) and a COM port on your computer. Takes about 5 mins to do, really easy too!! And like k.jacko said, just be careful not to shout out what you have and you wont get caught =) If you are wanting to keep your internet (which i think you are lol) you should also get a 2 Way Splitter Kit from Lincsat, so you can split the coax cable going into your VM STB (the white one) into 2 cables, one into your VM STB for internet and one into your Eurovox STB for TV ![]() Last edited by skyler0151; 08-10-08 at 10:11 AM. |
