Default Re: blocker image

Rom cards can have blockers installed via the bugcatcher table. The killer emm sent by the cc a while back rendered a number of mosc cards useless. Rom cards will always process the keyrolls and comms correctly otherwise the subbed cards would not work. The mosc cards that were hit had a public image on them which had a single tier 8 on it with min max 0001 to 3FFF or something like that. The cable company was able to target these cards because no genuine card would be configured in this maner. If your image is non public and as close as possible genuine 'looking' then it would be difficult to single it out for attack, never say impossible! If someone produces a image for public release then the person who configured it would install a blocker a bit like a firewall to prevent attacks from the cc destroying the card. The fact that it is public means it is open for scrutiny by everyone including the cc and the risk that goes with that the other problem is that if the keyroll method changes then the blocker may not allow the new keyroll through so the image will not auto update. Thats my understanding of the blocker in simple terms without going into to much detail about how the bugcathcher table works but stand to be corrected.
