Green light for German Christian channnel

A new Christian television channel has received the green light from German media anti-concentration commission KEK. The free-to-air service, which is operated by Augsburg-based company Evanture TV, will be available in digital on Astra (19.2° East) and on cable networks.

The channel, which carries the working title C-TV, will offer a 24 hour schedule with advisory and help programmes, talk shows, readings and reports from conventions, youth camps and other Christian events. Documentaries, children’s programmes and music shows are also planned, including a gospel show and recordings from concerts.

Every evening at prime time a news broadcast will cover world news from a Christian perspective. On Saturdays youth programmes will be in the foreground and church services on Sundays.

The channel, which plans to finance through donations, merchandising and sponsoring, wants to launch next year.
