Can't you just fit the old LNB to the new dish? Sounds like water ingress somewhere to me...

Evening all! The soap opera continues...

I changed the cable for some really good quality stuff this morning, but still got the same "no signal" message.

Also tried the old LNB on the new dish, but despite getting a good squeak from the sat meter and reducing strength when nudged in any direction, still got the no signal message.

In a fit of despair, I've bought a second-hand Sky Plus box (I was planning to eventually, anyway) so tomorrow I'll see if the problem was my old Thomson box all along!!

(or even, God forbid, I've been pointing at the wrong bit of sky all this time )

Problem solved

It was the receiver.

As soon as I installed the Sky + box everything worked just fine!!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to offer suggestions.

Well done. Always the last thing you try isn't it. lol

I had a similar problem about 6 years ago. Some of the boxes are rather poor.
