Default Would old cable service still be active?

Hi all,

This may sound like a ridiculous question but please be gentle as I don't have much knowledge on this sort of stuff :-)

h t t p : / / img49.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cimg0627sj8.jpg

I had Telewest cable a long time ago (10 years ago), and cancelled after a few years. However the connection point is still in my living room, (I have attached a picture to give you an idea of age of the connection point).I was just wondering if there would still be any kind of feed available from the box, or when you cancel do they stop the service at the exchange or something?

Thanks for any help

Cheers

Cheers for the responses, perhaps all is not lost.

What type of cable would I need to connect the access point to the tv? I've tried to standard arial type cable but it didn't fit?

I've seen some patch lead to standard arial type things on ebay, would this be needed?

Here are two possibles;

Ebay item numbers: 270284523496 and 270283959978

Cheers for the help

you need some coax with an f connector at one end and a coax plug at the other or any sort of adaptor that will do the same

Ah ok I got ya, cheers, seen some of those type adapters on ebay.

Then just hook it all up and do a full scan of all the frequencies on the tv and hope that it picks up a signal on one of the frequencies.

Is there any particular frequency range that I should look at when testing using a tv?

Cheers again,

Ok thanks,

I'll wait for the adapter to arrive and see how it goes.

Cheers for the advice all

To my amazement when I hooked up the cable and did a scan i was able to get all of the five terrestial channels, but also some others such as news 24, QVC etc, which I presume are sent out unencrypted.

I guess this means the service is still active and I can use something like eurovox?

Is it worth it though as I've read that they are turning the analogue system off this year? So I presume that would mean that my feed which I guess is analogue as it's so old would become useless soon?

Thanks for any help
