I am setting up my first dvb-c system. And I have run into a bit of difficulty. What I have done so far.........
1)Built the PC (x2 floppyDTV C/CI cards and inserted two blue zeta/joker 0.79 cams into the slots). I have not put any cards into the slots yet, but intend to use MOSCS. 2)Install vista x64/sp1 and TVPACK2008 x64 with other recommended updates. 3)Installed the latest Floppydtv drivers and the cards are recognised in computers device manager which says they are properly installed. Now at this stage I wanted to change the Boxkey on the CAM's to match my cards/stb but can't work out how to do that. I have been through some posts and tried cas studio/ritzdvb and mytheatre but can't work it out. Do I need to buy a CAM programmer to do this ??? Or do I need to insert cards ?? I have also the FireDTV viewer installed. This seems to be the only programme to recognise the two FloppyDTV's but I can't seem to edit anything in setup. Please help... I haven't actually started VMC yet, because I want to get this sorted first. ![]() Edit ..... Here is the info from my FireDTV support tool, i note it doen't specify joker, only module is this correct ? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Digital Everywhere Support Report: v1.1 (2231-13) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Generated on (Y/M/d): 2008.10.11 FireDTV / FloppyDTV devices: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- devices found: 2 Status for device 1 Model : FloppyDTV C/CI GUID : 0x0012872602002422 HW Ver.: 01.26.02 FW Ver.: 2.4.0 Build 51440 Driver : 4.8.10 M Frontend Status: Frequency.: 0 kHz, Sig.Str.: 0%, BER: 16160 Locked : NO CAM Module: Module Status for device 2 Model : FloppyDTV C/CI GUID : 0x001287260200242A HW Ver.: 01.26.02 FW Ver.: 2.4.0 Build 51440 Driver : 4.8.10 M Frontend Status: Frequency.: 0 kHz, Sig.Str.: 0%, BER: 16160 Locked : NO CAM Module: Module Windows System Information: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OS Path: C:\Windows OS Version: Microsoft Windows Vista, Service Pack 1 (Build: 6001) OHCI Controller: Manufacturer: AGERE Description: AGERE OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller MCE Plugin: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Plugin Version 2.0.0.0 Service started! I can't remember if the FireDTV CI Tool (have a look in the program folders) can change the boxkey - I found it a bit flaky TBH.
I used a CAS3+ when I wanted to change it. BUT, what I actually did was to make the boxkey on the FUN4s match the default Joker boxkey, then you don't have to worry. It doesn't matter what boxkey you use, as long as it matches. |

Ok - I think it might be something more to do with the setup/drivers for my floppydtv cards .........
When I install ritzdvb (wasn't sure if i needed to register dvbcore.dll) , and run it, it says "can't start dvb-decive! switching to OSD software mode" and the program starts. It won't let me open the CI menu, since they are greyed out. For those with floppydtv u might be able to help........ After installing vista/tvpack I installed the drivers for the floppydtv cards, I used the beta version 5.1N. I installed it for MCE with tvpack2008 and selected cable/UK from the transponder list. When I run FireDTV viewer and go to optons ... I selected my location, and went to the hardware tab. I can see the two cards listed here, I selected cable as the type of tuner and chose Normal as the state. I also selected "has CI module". When I then go to channelscan, I can't seem to scan any channels. "cable" is already selected for reception type. There is nothing in the transponder list except "complete scan". Most of the rest is greyed out. When I press "scan frequency" button or the "scan range" is gives me a warning "No hardware found". I am new to this so might be doing something very basic wrong, or are my cards not working properly ?? I have tried it with and without a cable feed attached to one of the floppydtv cards, I have also tried it with and without the CAM modules inserted. You can see form my first post that in the tools program that there was no transponder list found, is this normal ?? Hope I can get this going, it cost me a small fortune.

OK - I activated the CI module in ritz, which allows me to open it, but It doesn't identify any CAM . I also still get the error message "can't start dvb-device! switching to OSD software mode" when I start Ritz. Haven't made a transponder reg hack! how do I do that ?? It looks to me that the Floppydtv drivers come with a transponder reg entry ! ![]() edited ........ Got hold of a dbox services.xml file for my area giving transponder info , how do I go about making the reg file ?? Looks like this ......... - <transponder id="003c" onid="0031" frequency="459000000" inversion="2" symbol_rate="6887000" fec_inner="3" modulation="3"> <channel service_id="0003" name="BBC ONE" service_type="01" /> <channel service_id="0004" name="BBC1 North" service_type="01" /> Last edited by gaz_az; 11-10-08 at 11:58 AM. |

Have a look in the floppy dtv program folders, or just search for .reg files.
There's one called UK cable, copy it, paste it and rename it, right click on the new file and click edit. You should be able to spot how to edit it, both frequencies and symbolrate. Save it, then double click on it to merge it into your registry. What region are you? You can have mine if it's useful. Edit: actually, you're the same symbolrate as me - try mine, you might miss some channels if it's not perfect, but you should get some channel, wait a sec, I'll upload it. I am in Belfast. I have looked a your file, and my services.xml file and some of the frequencies are the same, but some are missing.
I can see how to put my frequencies and symbol rates into the .txt file, but how do I know where to put each entry?? There is another frequency with an "=" sign that comes first..... |
