Default Anyone reccomend a package for a begginer wanting football.

Hi all.
Finally took the plunge and got rid of sky, only now im left with no footie, which is what im going to miss.
I've checked this forum and others and it seems like a technomate box with a 80cm+ motorised dish would be a good start, but im a little confused as to what channels i'll actually get and whether i can pick up the 3pm prem matches.

Thanks for your time.
Pat.

well at the moment there is the canal digital channels on thor 1west as they show 3 games at 3pm, those channels are open on the diablo cam

there is also premiere open too which is on 19east which show the midday, 3pm and evening games

dish wise a 1metre dish with a diseqc motor or polar mount (recommended in windy locations) and decent receiver like vantage, manhattan xt or technomate 5400 would be a good choice

so to summarize footy channels for 3pm etc

canal+ sport 1, 2 & extra - 1west
galaxie sport( now know as nova sport) - 1west
premiere sport - 19east
eurosport 2 hungarian - 1west

think there is a few more but cant think of them

Remember that football accessibility on patched receivers is not guaranteed long term. If you want guaranteed football then you have to subscribe. You are looking at a thousand quid a year for a good choice of 3pm kickoffs.

yes that is for sky italia, canal digital sweden is much less than that at about 600, worth it though if you add up the price of match tickets, food and transport going to them

Thanks for the quick reply's guys, they're very helpful.
I think for the price i'm paying for sky at the moment its worth the risk switching over while football is available on patched recievers.
If in 6 months to a year football dries up then i've still saved £500, as sly are getting £50 a month from me at the mo.

I've been looking at getting a system for around 2 years now, but have been put off by the "no guarentee's"... I guess i'll just have to risk it.

even if footy goes, from what i've read i'm going to have a lot of fun playing with this... I've just got to figure out a way to keep the xxx channels out of the family's view

Thanks again,
Pat.

ATM, when there is a full EPL weekend schedule, ART tend to show about 4 games per weekend i.e. Saturday and Sunday early and late starting matches; no 3PM.

At the moment I have an SL65 which has been patched. Cost me £50 off of ebay. At the moment I am using it to pick up 19.2E and Premiere. Which is going soon. I will then pick up Polsat Sport which has movies and sport too. I am limited due to my neighbours trees. But if he ever cuts them or I can find another spot to mount a dish. Then I will delve deeper. Th only problem with Premiere is it's usually Chelsea or Man Utd matches.

Check out www.liveonsat.com for football listings. Will help you decide what channels you want to receive.
