Default coax length

Hello....

Need some advice please.

I live on the third of an eleven floor block of flats and soon I'll be putting a dish on the top. I reckon that I'll need up to 40 yards of coax.

How much will this affect the signal?

Will I need a signal amp?

Thanks

Thanks Mr. Cat

With a bit of luck I'll be putting it up next week.
I already have a dish pointing at Hispasat 30W. That's for BBC News.
The new one will be for Astra 28E on south beam, if possible north. Let's see what happens.

If all goes well I'll point the Hispasat dish off in another direction.

Cheers mate

Hi, yes as long as you don't use the real crappy satellite cable you should be OK. If you happen to get an attenuation problem, it is best to use thicker cable, rather than putting an amp in.

OK. Thanks for the info.
I'll make sure it's good coax.

Btw, I bloke I know here in Seville is using a 60 cm dish and he gets a good signal 24 hours a day from Astra. With his small dish it's probably south beam. I understood that the south beam signal was lost at about 10:30 pm when the satellite(s) changes position............

Anyway, I'll post what happens.

Very cheers!
