Question ex1000 sl help please

hi. i've just bought a sl and think from reading on here that i need to flash it to get all the channels. but cant work out how to connect it too my laptop. the only socket on the back of the box is for a rs 232 cable which i have but it wont plug in. is this a problem with the laptop or the box or am i doing something totaly wrong. is there another way i can get it to pick up more channels (only getting bbc 1 2 3 and the other terrestrial channels) sorry for any nieviety here. i'm new to all this. i.ve tryed doing a deep scan and also a fast install but both with the same outcome.

ps i live in the north west, just outside manchester

cheers in adavance

pete

Hi and welcome to Techwatch
to get all the channels you need to flash the box with the v1.0 darx 29/08/2008 firmware,
get it here _http://www.box.net/shared/tmuhectkwo#1:18161264
to connect to a laptop that hasn't the 9 pin rs232 connection you will need a rs232 to USB adaptor as well as the null modem cable.
a lot of people have problems when trying to flash with the USB adaptor it would be a lot easier if you can get access to a desktop computer.
after flashing do a scan and you should get all channels.

There's nothing you can do until you have flashed it with the v1.0 darx firmware (apart from watching free to air channels)
