One thing puzzling me is, can you create more than 1 active network adapter?
Very new to this sort of thing, but what i,ve noticed on SMAC is that i have only 1 active network adapter (all others are inactive),is this why i can't spoof my NIC MAC?
You can Enable the other Net Adapters...If YOU have NEVER connected your Subbed Modem to them.
Sorry for silly question but just an aging newbie!!!!!!!!!!!

When i check out examples on SMAC user guide there are lots of "active" network Adapters.Red herring or what?????????????????
You can get a NEW Network Adapter for your p.c. as this will have a different mac to what you already have.

Give up on SMAC so...............
Where can i get a new network adapter for my laptop?
Just been to PC Wor*d and they were as helpful as a chocolate teapot!!They suggested changing motherboard!!

Need to change NIC but dont know what to buy. Does this adapter just plug into ethernet port?
Have heard of USB to Ethernet adapters, but would these be too slow?

Any ideas folks?????????????
Thanks

m8 use the program `Nimac Changer` its free and it will change the nic mac address on your card easy peasy.
you cant put a nic card in you laptop no facility to, you could probably get a pcmcia card to nic,but i would not bother with that either.

Thanks.Received your programme s/w.
Tried it out and as you say really user friendly----------but not to me!
Aint got a clue whats going wrong.Exactly same results as when using SMAC.
Will allow me to change MAC no problem, but after disable/enable end up with no connection.............again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IP addy always "0.0.0.0."
Have to then remove spoofed mac to get connected !
Wondering if i need to alter pc settings somehow on my laptop?
This is really doing my head-in now.
Have read loads of posts and seems no one has had similar problem.
Spoof your NIC easy!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah right!
Thanks all the same m8 for your help.Regards

read this article on ip address, might help you

Assign Static IP Address
(Windows XP)

We strongly advise that you consult with your network and router administrators before making any changes.

Each computer in a network has its own internal IP address. That IP address may be static, which means that it never changes. Or, as is likely if you share an Internet connection with other computers, the internal IP address may be assigned dynamically and may change from time to time.

Note: in a network configuration, the internal IP is not the same as the IP assigned by your ISP. The IP assigned by your ISP can be either static or dynamic.

When you are opening ports to allow incoming connections to your computer, your computer must be assigned a static internal IP address, to ensure that the incoming connections always go to the correct computer.

There are several steps:
  1. See your current IP address
  2. Choose a static IP address
  3. Assign the static IP address

Current IP Address

Find your current IP address and whether it is static or dynamic:
  1. Open Windows Start menu.
  2. Select Run. Type: command and click OK.
  3. At the blinking cursor, type: ipconfig /all and press Enter.
  4. Look for these entries near the end of the list: - Dhcp Enabled. No means your IP address is static. Yes means it is dynamic.- IP Address. This is your current IP address.
  5. To exit, at the blinking cursor, type: exit and press Enter.
If your current IP address is:
  • Static, then make note of the IP address. You need the IP address when you open ports in your router or firewall.
  • Dynamic, then assign a static IP address instead.

Choose an IP address

Choose an IP address, and collect other information needed in order to assign a static IP address to your computer.
  1. In your router administration program, find and remember this information:
    • Router (Gateway) IP address
    • Subnet Mask
    • IP addresses of your DNS servers
  2. In your router administration program, find an IP address that can be assigned as a static IP. The address:
    • Must not be one that might be assigned to someone as a dynamic address.
    • Must not be one that has been assigned to another device (often these are the low numbers).
    • Must be lower than the range of dynamic addresses.

Assign the IP address

To set a static IP address:
  1. Open Windows Start menu.
  2. Open Control Panel.
  3. Classic view: Open Network Connections
Category view: Select Network and Internet Connections, and then Network Connections.
  4. Double-click on your active LAN or Internet connection.
  5. Click Properties.
This opens the Local Area Connections Properties window.
  1. In the General tab, highlight the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item, and click Properties.
This opens the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window.
  1. In the General tab, click Use the following IP address, and enter: - IP address. The static IP address you want to assign to this computer.- Subnet mask. Subnet mask used by your router.- Default gateway. IP address of your router's default gateway.
  2. In Use the following DNS server addresses, enter all the IP addressses for the DNS servers your router uses.
  3. Click OK.
Then:
  1. Click OK to close each window.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. Then, check your IP address again, to make sure that the changes were applied.

4)Switch off pc
5)Re-connect modem and cable feed
