Hello all,
apologies in for the banality of this inquiry, but I am awaiting delivery of the above gear and only partially have an idea about how to set them up so I can get 5.1 surround out of the HD box and PS3. I believe the DZ260 only has a single optical in connector. My plan is thus: Connect SkyHD Box and PS3 to the TV via separate HDMI cables Connect SkyHD Box and PS3 to the DZ260 via separate Optical cables My questions are these: 1) Will the above setup work? 2) If not, where am I going wrong 3) Do I need to connect the TV direct to the DZ260? 4) Is there some sort of adaptor available that will allow me to hook up more than one device to the DZ260 as it only has 1 optical port? Many thanks in advance |

Hi
Not familiar with the unit but I have a pioneer 7.1 system and everything is hooked up to the amp,and the only lead I have into the tv is a Hdmi cable. There are plenty of optical switch boxes,to save money why not hook one via the coax input. |

Thanks for the reply mate, you will know far more about this type of thing than me. Do skyhd/ps3 have coaxial outputs and will I be able to get 5.1 surround out of them through it?
Apologies if this is a stupid question. |

Sorry not a game playing bloke, never had sky,(always gone the other route to watch satellite ie not paying),so dont know. But if you dont want to use a switch box you can always convert optical to coax or vice versa. If you hook up a sacd or if you are playing a DTS audio you will need the best connection you can get or it is a waste of your system

Took delivery of the tv, amp and ps3 today. PS3 hooked up to tv via HDMI and that works fine. PS3 connected to the amp via optical in.
However I can't get any sound out of the surround system when I've got a blu-ray disc playing in the PS3. I know the amp and speakers work fine as I calibrated them first, and DVD played from the amp as a source produces sound just fine. Where am I going wrong? |

I got a DAV-DZ260 today and have a similar set up to yours i.e. Sky HD, PS3 & Sony Bravia TV (X3000). I would like to set up both Sky HD & PS3 for surround sound via the DZ260 however I am not sure of the best way to achieve this. There is only one optical in on the DZ260. Does this mean I need to use an optical splitter in order to get surround sound from both PS3 & SkyHD? |

Would think the simplest way it to connect the Opticial O/P from the TV to the Opticial I/P on the surround amp. That gives all your TV sound back out to the amp. Should work perfectly.
