I have purchased the Philex FTA satellite kit from B&Q. Super Value.
The dish has been installed and pointed at Astra 2 group using instructions provided, satfinder.com, a look at neigbour's dishes and some trial and error. So far so good. I'm getting over 60% quality on most transponders and an automatic channel scan has located 100s of channels, all viewable with good quality. (inc. all BBC and ITV ones) However: Transponder 1 10714 H 22000 5/6 is an oddity. This covers Ch4, Film 4 and More4+1, none of which I can receive. When I do a manual search the quality bar reads 0% for several seconds and then jumps to 65% or so. As soon as I press the 'scan' button the quality drops to 0% again and a message is dispalyed"No channels Found". Signal is at 82% throughout. I have tweaked the alignment of the azimuth, tilt and LNB roataion to no avail. ![]() Any ideas as I am stumped? many thanks in advance

Do you have a cordless telephone? Some of these have been known to affect certain frequencies, although I can't remember which ones.
If you have a cordless phone try unplugging the base and try scanning again. |

I think what is necessary is LNB 'skew'. Facing the dish, slightly rotate the LNB clockwise and leave it where best signal results -- should really be just a little twist.

I bought a Titanium LNB via eBay and this has cured all the problems. Signals come romping in on all transponders.
I guess that a £40 complete set does have some downsides, but even with a new LNB its still a bargain. ![]()

10714 is the lowest frequncy in use at 28E, and some out of tolerance lnb's struggle to lock it.
