adding favourites to star view box??????

can anyone advise on how to add favourites to a starview ( 3 i think??). i've read the manual and that doesn't work. I select the fav button and it just say all, 1, 2, 3 etc. i then press the blue button as per instruction but nothin happens. also, on these, is there anyway of stayin on one channel whilst flicking through and seein what is on the other channels, without actually turnin over??
