My remote control is not working for fs-4200

HI all.

I had got myself a fortec star fs-4200 from Maplins and my remote is dead.
I have tryed so many battries and still no luck there, and i tested the battries aswell.

Is there a code for the remote so i can reprogram it.
just might need the code to work and instuctions please.

I got myself a remote i can use with the sat box just the buttons are all mixed up and there is only 1 code for the fortec that don't work, so either way i still would like the code as the manual is no good.

If you have a CCD camera (digital camera/camcorder/mobile phone) you can check whether a remote control is emitting infra-red light by pointing it at the camera lense and pressing the buttons, and observing whether a flashing is seen on the viewfinder screen.

The remote is flashing in the cam, so there must be life in it - but the fortec star box is not picking the signal up, my remote must not of been programmed when i brought the sat box.

As i said in my other post that i got another remote control and that works with the box, just that all the wrong settings are on the wrong buttons and i can not get into the menu in the sat box.

I am shure i need the {CODE} for the remote i got with my sat box, not the other remote i got.

There is no number on the remote just says FORTEC STAR.

please anyone with the code for the remote and instuctions on how to program it, then i can post back to say if i got the sat box working or not with remote.

Why don't you just take it back to Maplin?

The supplied remote should work "out of the box".

Would of just been quicker if i tyed reprograming the remote then having to go all the way in to birmingham town center, if the remote worked with trying it out first, then that would be of some help to me, aswell maplins do a test on the equipment that takes 14 days which is a shame, i would take it all back if i new for shure if it was nackerd, but some 1 kowns out there what the heck the code is for the remote and instuctions on reprograming it.

Don't you think that we should have such information in our handbooks, even fru there is a help guide that tells you how to take care of your equipment, but the lack of help for reprograming a remote control with a code that they forget to add in the manual or even they the company don't won't you to have it, phh what a ass.

we pay good money for our gear' so were is the dam flipping code of fortec star for a fs-4200.

yet i was going to spend 90 quid for a better sat box then also buy a brand new sat dish with fitting and horn and all the wires 2, just might of got a problem with that and i would of been more jack of if i had.

yet all i ask for is a little help for somthink so easy to do, why waste my time running around taking it back to shop when all it could be is remote needs reprogramming.

never seem's they build stuff rock solid, yet they don't build rockets to send people into space with missing bits in the thing, yet again they have with a few, thats another story. gett my giff.

The remote you have that Maplin supplied with the Fortec is clearly either the incorrect model or is faulty.

It is not programmable it is not designed to operate other equipment it is designed to operate a Fortec Star receiver but is not doing so. Robbo71's advice is sound and Maplin should offer a replacement over-the-counter and if you're worried you might need to return it again ask if they wouldn't mind demonstrating it working before you take it.

demonstrating the sat box is shure 1 thing maplins don't do near me. i never seen them do that.
i just did not think if they might of gave me the wrong remote. Going into town to get it replaced, but as i said it's a 14 day test return they do, to see if you have broke it.

i don't like this 14 day rubbish, TANDY Electronics never done anythink like that.
