Default Eurovox PVR 5000 V Starview 4 PVR

Hi All,

I have a Starview 1 clone box at the moment and thinking of upgrading it to one of the PVR models on the market, but don't know which one is the best of two.

I have only just recently connected my Starview 1 via the S-VHS socket for the picture and the optical out for the sound and very impressed with improved picture and sound quality compared to using the scart socket.

Can anyone tell me if either the Eurovox PVR 5000 and the Starview 4 PVR has these types of connections please? as this might make my choice easier. Any other pros and cons of both boxes greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mick.

PS great site keep up the good work.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply,

Sorry i should of put the connection i use is s-video and not s-vhs, s-video gives better picture quality than scart and the optical cable i'm using for the sound gives digital sound quality.

Check it out here,

Thanks Mick.

I think it does have S-Video. Check the spinning image in the URL below. You can see the rear view by stopping it with your cursor!

Hi Radge,

Thanks for the link, the back of starview is almost identical to the starview 1 i have apart the USB, does anyone have a pic of the back of the Eurovox 5000 they can show me too?

How do both boxes compare with each other with timed recordings using the EPG? Anyone help please?

Thanks Mick.

The SV4 firmware, (latest 1.02), is still at Beta stage. So it doesn't even have a timer facility for recording as of yet. Both boxes are single tuner PVRs but the EX5000 allows for you to watch and record channels on the same TP, (frequency).

As said you cant compare the two in regards to timer facilities as one has it and the other does not as of yet.

The SV4 is a nice box but just needs a bit of development from a firmware point of view. The EX5000 is a bit more advanced in relation to a stable and more functional firmware base.

The connections on the back of the EX5000 are:

TV Scart Output CVBS,RGB,L,R,Output with Volume Control.
RCA Output CVBS,L,R,Output ( Yellow,White,Red Jack)with Volume Control.
S/P DIF RCA Output.
RF-Connector 75O IEC169-2,Male/Female.
Data Interface RS-232,Bit Rate:115200baud,Connector : 9 pin D-Sub Male type.
