I also have a 4001 that just says pace on the front and when u leave it for a week it will come back on and yeah i wouldnt leave it on standby either they sure do give off some heat

In my experience it's always atmel connections when stuck on PACE.

Put some flux on the legs and reflow the solder. I always ghetto it with a gas soldering iron, tip removed.

You could try replacing the caps.

Have you tried removing the red jumper for a while and then replacing it?

Have you tried it in another room/different feed?

Where is the box sitting, is it ventilated properly?

I too had a 4001 stuck on pace, but as mentioned previously by someone in this thread my problem was down to a poor cable connection, once replaced, booted fine.

Just a thought,

Have you checked to see if the Simm is sitting in the slot correctly?

try removing, then cleaning and then then replacing the simm.

And my final two cents, you could try changing attentuation in the eng menu from low to high or vice versa.
