Ambit 250 ethernet port not working at all / but workz with usb

HI ALL

i came accross a second hand ambit250 for a 5er so i bought it i got it home plugged it in and i got

power light then ethernet[which turnoed off after 3 secs or so]
opposed to just power light no matter what lead is in.....
so i thought i had been 'chipped already'---to my liking when i connected to 250configurator i got stopping channnel scan etc---yay it was done already though alsettings had been messed up !!!
OBVIOUSLY WHEN THE ORIGINAL MAC GOT CANCELLED OT V1RG1N HIT IT...annex everyhtin was reset to zero apart from mac...

so i set about changing eveything put in a working mac........saved settings

connected cable feed,ethernet , pOWER
ethernet lights comes on for 2secs then goes off and will not come on at all!! and my ethernet cable is fine by way........
also the ready light is flashing as it does when its booting.....
so i had network access....i just may need to play about with settings and new mac to get allowed access--anyway....

ummm i thought ,so i tried the usb

straight away in win xp it come up wanna search for device driver i cancelled this...

tried internet and woila google was there....

so why does the ethernet not work, i have checked port pins etc all looks gud.

the ethernet cable works in my other modems....

its not a prob as u can use the usb fine........but some people may need drivers---WHERE CAN I GET THESE PLEASE.???????

has any1 seen this b4, is it to do with if the box has been hit ?????

the mac u enter in '250config' is for the ethernet port so i would have thought the usb mac was set up auto' by the 250 config prog'... the reason i think may just be a faulty port im not sure any ideas
