Default Modem not connecting.

Hi All

I have recently setup Cable on my PC and have a modem that is not hacked. From the box on the wall I have a cable going into the splitter that VM provided with my modem, from the splitter one cable goes to the modem the other to my PC.
for the past few weeks it has all been working fine. this weekend the modem has been playing up .

If I remove the splitter and connect the modem directly to the wall socket all is well. If I put the splitter in, the Modem will occasionally connect for a limited time then drop the connection.

thinking it was the splitter or the cables I took everything to a friends house. With my splitter and cables his modem works fine.

Has anyone experienced this behaviour? If I have to I'll get an engineer out, but I would like to avoid it as removing all of my kit will be a pain in the arse.

Sounds like a signal issue, you may have to get a tech out, although I understand that in some areas they can turn up the power remotely without a tech visit.
