Default Tracing a cloned modem

Whats the consensus guys? Ive seen conflicting information. One person has advised me (who I dont doubt for a minute btw) that the cable company can trace a cloned modem back to its point of origin via the green street cabinet?
Someone else who seemed savvy enough suggested that this wasnt the case and that it could only be located back to a certain 'segment' and not to the cabinet itself and therby your house? I realise the likelihood of them going to the bother is low but would like the sp anyway.
Whats the story guys?
Cheers

I havnt heard of them tracing anyone, with a modem its possible they could from the green cab , it would be easier to block the mac address like they do with cable boxes with T/B on.

As far as ive heard vermin would have to disconnect everyone in the green cab+reconnect one at a time to get the location of the clone as it comes back online, it takes up too much time+obviously money 4 the poor sods so until HFC cloning becomes an epidemic old Rickie B aint gonna bother his ass while they're still coining it in from genuine subs..
