Default Absolute beginner questions !

Hi, I'm just starting to take a look at satellite receivers, have read a bit but a lot of it is like a foreign language tbh, going to take me a long time !

Anyway, some basic questions I cant find the answers for

Do I need a motorised dish to pick up a large variety of channels
Do the boxes have a decent tv guide similar to freeview
Are any of the recorders capable of a series link facility or similar ?
would I be able to view star sports?
How much would I expect to pay for someone to supply and fit a tm6900 super with dish etc (manchester area)
I see you have to buy cards such as Diablo, how many are there and do they expire or can they be updated.
Will i need to pay for information for new satellite positions or something in the future and how often do the channels 'move around' ?

Thanks in advance for all your help !

Hello and welcome I have replied to your PM but to the above questions here goes:

1. Yes you will need a motorised dish to get as many channels as possible
2. No, the EPG is normally whats on now and next.
3. Because of the lack of an EPG you won't be able to do series link
4. Not heard of Star Sports? is this on satellite as I could not find any reference of it on King of Sat
5. Expect to pay any thing up to £200 for a decent install
6. The Diablo is not a card but a CAM (common interface module) that you programme with a CAS3+ programmer with files from the net and as this is an unofficial file then you could have the channels 1 week or 12 mths but there is no guarantee. Apart from this you could buy a 6 or 12 mth subscription to DigitALB Super Sports from £169 for 6 mths to £230 for 12 mths then renew the card when it expires, however DigitALB don't show 3pm games.
7. All information is free if you look at the right forums such as this one.
