Hi I have wireless broadband set up in my house but want to let my sister use it also. we live in the country and there is a shed almost half way between the 2 houses a bit on my side though. I was hoping that I could set up some kind of repeater in the shed to link the 2 houses is this possible? Also will it be a problem to keep the network secure doing this? Any other ideas would be appreciated. Cheers in advance.

You need to investigate wifi routers with replaceable antennas, then put some directional aerials up.

If you have power to your shed and your laptop(?) can get a wifi signal from the shed then you CAN put a wireless repeater in there (not a Wireless Acces Point). It will use whatever security you have already applied at the router end so that isn't an issue.
How far away is your sisters house? Remember wireless 'G' has an max radius of approx. 40m. |

You will probably laugh at this if you look on youtube there is a type of booster you can make out of a can a bit like a sat dish, it works quite well as my son made one when he was based out in germany and he was picking up wireless networks from quite far away, you can buy them too they look like a small sat dish.

Just a lil thought
![]() How are you getting power to the shed? Guessing that there is some. If so, is the power fed from your house? You could get a Powerline networking kit. It uses your Power line, and converts it into a network. Have a look here for that. HomePlug AV | Broadbandbuyer.co.uk If the power is not distributed to the shed from your house. Then you could try getting an Outdoor Antenna. But they can be a bit pricey. Wireless Outdoor Antenna (Wireless-G) | Broadbandbuyer.co.uk Have fun
