Update Mosc or New Fun Card - which is easier?

My original ntl card (rom10/11) seems to have stopped working.

First time doing this so I need to decide whether I should get a good (expensive) programmer, read the mosc/rom 10/11, hope its not locked and update

or....

Sod that altogther, get a cheap programmer and funcard and make myself a new one using my box and ird (already have those).

The later way seems cheaper but which way is a noob like me going to have less problems?

also on an unrelated note, my picture signal always seems to frame freeze for a second or so every minute. what causes this?

You could use a Funcard, but MOSCs are alot better. I don't really bother with funs as I am used to programming MOSCs. They only take 5 mins or so once you have them unlocked . The T911 unlocks ROM11s in minutes.

If its going to be locked I will end up buying a blank funcard and doing it that way as I don't want to fork out for a unlooper as well.

What do you reckon the chances are that its locked? 50/50?

Also if I was to do a funcard from scratch, will a funcard 2 do?

fun and fun 2 both works but mocs r easy if you have bk and ird just clean the card with mrom and write again or reason it stopped is exp dates u can change dates with xncs

You are better off to buy a decent programmer, infinity or dynamite, even just to do a fun. your freezing problem could be weak signal, check your cable connections any splitters etc.

Hi, The cheaper programmer I was looking at was the Infinity funprogrammer which is almost half the price of a phoenix abled one. I have found one online for £26 delivered. Very tempted by this.

I have a splitter on my line as you correctly say but I need it for my cable modem. Is there anything I can do to improve the signal? Can a re arrange it somehow.

Put your box directly onto feed for a while, if it still freezes then its not the splitter and could be low signal. Do you have a subbed box? if so does this freeze as well? If so remove dodgy stuff and get vermin in to sort signal out. If you are on a tight budget go for Fun but as mentioned MOSC are probably better in long run re hits etc.
For mosc u will need something like an infinity /Pheonix USB progger. You card is probably unlocked but might have a blockered image on it that would need sorting but thast is no prob. Choice is yours m8.

Will try to remove the splitter as recommended. I haven't got a subbed box though unfortunately.

I'm on a very tight budget so I'm definately leaning towards the funcard option. What do you mean that the mosc is better as regard to hits? you mean when vermin scan for dodgy boxes? surely its the same no matter what card I use?

Virgin Media send hits to the cards to disable them but MOSCs tend to stay on stream with the box alot longer than Funs. I have had a MOSC in a 2110C for a few months now and it has been fine (despite the hit a couple of months back) .
