Post Virgin Media Internet

I have a wireless Belkin G Router and Virgin Media modem. My laptop is a Compaq Presario F500 my laptop sometime won't find my wireless and sometimes it will find it connect but there is not internet signal. But it sometimes does find it and connect.I recentaly put protection on it. It has built in wireless and it usually sits beside the wireless.
Can anyone help me. Thanks

Hi
I no expert but just a few things come to mind.
  • How far away is the wireless to the laptop?
  • How meny obstructions between the wireless and the lap top? Walls do make a difference.
  • Have you tried the wireless connection with a third party wireless card? I had this problem as the wireless card in the lap top was crap! So I put in a PCMIA wireless card it was better.
  • If it is WEP protected have you sync it up with the lap top?
Lots to think about sorry but some thing may come out of this.
