I'm planning on building a Htpc, i've just found out that I can get a pci card that will do the same job as my eurovox (recieve all virgin media channels).
Basically my question is what is the best pci card to buy. I have virgin media and want to recieve all the channels as i get with my eurovox. HD channels would be a bonus also is there any additional software needed? Thanks in advance. |

ok heres where i get to help someone.
i have a floppdtv-c (£125), and a technotrend t1500c with ci. (£65). both do the job well, but floppydtv after sale support is better. i recommend using hard cam for decrytion its more reliable. cheap pc... get the acase htpc case from xcase.co.uk (£45). mobo, micro atx amd 790 chipset with onboard ati hd 3000 series video and digital audio out.(about £45) cpu, amd athlon 64 x2 5000+ and 2gig pc6400 ram. (£100 ish) ultra quiet 420 watt psu. (£35) 120 gig sata2 hd. (£35) dvd or blueray rom/writer. (£25 or £80) ms mce ir-remote. (£30 max) media portal software (free). not using a htpc case and avoiding the ultra quiet option can save you few quid. but its nice to do it right. hope this helps. |
