Thumbs down Problems with MACS! Please help

I'm having non stop problems with my Mac address and its come to the point where i'm gonna start tearing my hair out.

My ntl modem worked great for 18 months after I bought it. Then I got the virgin media reg page. Came on here and spent days learning about things and finally managed to change my MAC. I found my mac by using DHCP sniffer at a neighbours.

Now for some reason my modem works great but every so often I get page cannot be displayed. I change the mac to get it back working and then once again its only a matter of time before it stops working. Anything between a few minutes to a maximum of a days. I don't know if its a mac conflict of some sort. Sometimes if I keep trying rather than changing macs, service does resume but again its short lived.

Tonight I have tried numerous macs. Ones obtained at my home, ones at my neighbours and ones about 3 miles away from my house. all via dhcp sniffer. Most get page cannot be displayed, some get virgin media reg page and some seem to totally screw with my modem where i have comm errors, no connectivity, unable to open 192.168.100.1 etc etc. which then take about 1hr to change using various methods (rebooting etc).

Can anyone help at all? I've spent hours and hours and hours trying to get my modem working as good as it used to but it seems futile.

thats what i was thinking so that mac address could be being used by up to 3 to 4 people all booting each other off.

macs obtained via DHCP sniffer shouldn't do this though as thats what its designed for.

yeah tried that but most times closing all ie windows and opening a new one does the trick. Its strange though how its different for different people and sometimes works fine in the same window. makes troubleshooting so much worse.

what did you do in the end?

When I use the sniffer I get 20+ macs and they all seem to be the same.
