Hi All,
I am a new (Senior) member to this group but have read and learned from the excellent advice given to all new members questions, I have installed my motorised dish (85cm transparent) and have the humax hd foxsat, got eveything up and running found thor 1w (best signal transponder 11325) and freesat 28.2e can motor between the 2 all ok just a couple of questions that may sound daft but my brain is drained after setting this lot up. 1/ what sats should I be able to pick up I am lat 53.42n -3.0e (cheshire) 2/ How the hell do I download from thor to my TV in fact any sat other than astra freesat to my TV thanks for any help. Best Regards Doogle. |

Hi mate,
1) You shouldn't have any problem picking up Hotbird (13 east) and Astra 1 (19.2e) as well. 2) Not to sure what you mean by download ? If you've found Thor 0.8W then you just need to run a transponder scan and you'll scan and save all the channels into your box. p.s. I wouldn't put your exact longitude and latitude on a open forum. You never know what undesirables may be on the site ! |

Start with 5W, 5E, 9E, 13E, 19E and 23E. They are all nice and strong and should give you a good grounding in whats available in the skies above Europe.
You should get something off most of the European sats listed here between about 5W and 53E: FlySat Sat List (some of them like 21E will be out of reach) but as I said start on the high power slots first Welcome to the wonderful world of foreign sat tv reception

The one small comma is whether the Foxsat has a list of various different satellites and their transponders; in other words, whether it functions like regular proper multi-satellite boxes. In truth, I ask out of curiosity as much as anything else.

Thank you to all who replied to my question, I think my problem is I dont really understand the humax rec I have, as for the instruction book it is rather useless as a user instruction manual in the way to down load anything other than freesat or how to install programmes other than freesat, everything I have learned is from this forum, so I was wanting to know how If I go to thor or any other sat other than freesat, what do I do to get the info to my tv, sorry to be stupid but I am not very technical in this area. Yes bigtree it does give different sats and all transponders. Thanks again.
Regards Doogle. |

Please post back with more details of your receiver, you mention it is a Humax, is it the HD receiver?
To get some channels to open you will probably need a Cam, like the Diablo 2.3, providing your receiver has a CI slot, but you will also need a Cas programmer, to program the cam. It would make it easier, for other members to help, if you added some information to your profile, receiver make/model, 85cm motorized Dish, and if you have any other satellite equipment. |

@Micka,in OP Doogle mentions he/she has the Humax Foxsat(HD).
@Doogle Assuming you have a clear of sight, input you latitude/longitude here and click all satellites, and it will give a list of satellites receivable for your location and dish size. The Foxsat does have a list of satellites, prestored in the Non-Freesat mode. Ill post up some screenshots for you to follow asap. Last edited by SAT-WORLD; 25-10-08 at 10:37 AM. |

Hello all,
Thanks for your replys my receiver is a Humax Hd Foxsat with 85cm Technomate motorised dish no other equipment, I found the transponder section in the rec settings and did a scan I did get a load of extra channels but I think they are all fta channels from Astra 2 not used in the freesat menu (hope this is making sense). I then still in set up menu I checked each sat that was shown, I also checked each transponder on that sat for best signal and saved each one, now if I redo a transponder scan in nonfreesat mode will these sites down load to the nonfreesat menu, I just dont seem to understand this part of the manual, can anybody with a Humax rec help with instructions, sorry if a bit long winded. Just remember, that you have to be be in Non Freesat mode. Secondly, when in Setup, select Manual tune, then press the colour keys in this sequence: RED,GREEN,YELLOW,BLUE,GREEN,YELLOW,BLUE This will bring up Manual setup Select Antenna Setting, then Antenna Motor Then Satellite setting, from the drop down list, you can select the satellites,by ticking and saving them. Make sure to save them all and scan them individually, select Network scan:Enable,if you want to scan the encrypted(scrambled channels),as well, then select All,at Scrambled Type. When the search(s) are complete, save the selected results,by pressing YES |

The Foxsat was disconnected from the satellite dish,in these screenhots,in case you're wondering why there's no Signal Quality or Strength.
