Did some testing and found that all the channels from Eurobird(28.5) all have a much lower signal quality (typically 20-30%) than channels from Astra(28.2) where signal quality is typically 60-80%.
Anyone know whats wrong? |

Astra 2 is located at 28.2e where as Eurobird is located at 28.5e. This would make a slight difference but its more than likely that Eurobird just isn't as powerful as its Astra counterparts

I haven't been on this site for a while and spotted this thread - I wouldn't have thought that 0.3 of a degree would make much difference in 36,000 miles or so - or am I wrong?

It wont make an appreciable difference on a well aligned dish - the acceptance angle of a domestic satellite dish is 2-3 degrees.
Chances are the OP's dish is slightly out of alignment. This is assuming the user is in the UK - weird and wonderful things start to happen away from north western Europe!

When ever i have problems with any dishes at work its always channels off Eurobird rather than the ones off Astra that are problematic
![]() I just don't think its transponders are as strong as the ones off the Astra birds My Sat meter seems to concur with this thought to ![]() ![]() Nano

I live just north of the English/scottish border.
I have decided to get new cabling and a new dish for that matter. Dish is nearly 50% rust. My cabling is nearly 10 years old too. Will post results. |
