I have moved your thread to the Dreambox 500 section as it seems to be more related to Dreamboxes than cams and cards.
With the Dreambox range S seems to stand for Satellite and C for Cable so I would assume that your box is a satellite receiver, whether it is real or a clone is more difficult to ascertain.

Read through the Dreambox section, especially the sticky threads.
Dreamboxes are linux based receivers which you load images and other software onto to open channels, you do not need a card unless it opens extra channels not available on general emulation.
Currently the MII+ card opens DigitAlb and Canal Digital, and there are a couple of other cards opening a few other channels, but for the time being stick to loading the Dreambox images and software.

You don't need to program any card with a Dreambox. Any compromised encryption that is public (I.e not on a card or cam like an MII or Diablo Cam) can be opened using various emus like gbox, mgcamd etc etc.

Currently open is Premiere Germany, Polsat and Digi TV (Romanian i think) on 1w. Personally I would expect to see Digitalb and Canal on 1w becoming open in the near future as we will lose Premiere at the end of the month when the Nagra2 encryption ceases. If a receiver can't open anything it won't sell so i don't think it will be long before they become available on emu

Not sure exactly what you are referring to about a box before the dish but if you are using a 36v jack motor you will need something like a moteck v box to control the motor on the dish.

If you are using multiple dishes or lnbs you will need a DISEqC switch to allow the receiver to switch between the various dishes/lnbs unless you use a monoblock lnb which has an inbuilt DISEqC switch.

If its a single lnb you won't need anything between the receiver and the lnb apart from the cable

If you are going for a DISEqC motor like a Moteck SG2100a beware as the 500s can sometimes have difficulty powering the motor especially if its on the end of a long cable run

got dreambox from mate in work and he was with telepest. I am with npl and want to manually input the codes. He has given me instructions to do this(have not tried yet). What I really want to know , is on the screen with all the line sof codes on it he has told me that only the first 2 are relevant , is this the case, or where these 2 lines only relevant to him because of his cable provider. Do I have to go down any further on the codes menu to input my relevant codes onto an npl line further down or do i use the same first 2 code lines that he has . Any info appreciated, thanks

Your in the wrong section Gerry, this thread is about a Dreambox 500s not a 500c. Thats why its in the satellite section

I doubt anybody in the sat section will be able to help you. Suggest you start a thread in the Cable section

Yes indeed - in fact the lads n lasses enjoying the satellite side of the hobby get REALLY hacked off with all the idiot cable boys who insist in polluting our side of the forum with their cable crap.

Its not a very big forum - how come half the new folks who join looking for cable info cant find the correct section to post in?
