Default Virgin V+ HD box

Hi,

Hope some of you knowledgeable people can help, I'm looking to get a V+ box (i have a starview at the moment), i've seen these 'return path filters' so i presume i need to use one of these also? I have no idea how to setup one of these boxes with the BK & IRD (i've seen these mentioned) and wondered if there was anywhere i could get one of these boxes pretty much setup ready? Sorry if this sounds a bit dim!

Thanks for any help/advice.

They are quite hard to get hold of already modded. You would be better off buying one yourself and modding it. You will need an Unlooper and a programmer capable of operating in Phoenix Mode. The box needs a paired card though so make sure you check this before you buy. Without a paired card, you cannot get the BK and also if the card has been "hit", you will get a false BK (6D 56 .. ..). Return path filters work the same way as cutting talkback on the box. You can't use On Demand services doing this I don't think (although people claim they can).

as far as i know you will also have to be able to program/blank/lift/replace chips ect so its not as simple as just making a card & adding noise filter, unless you get a box from your own area & you have the pin. (I could be wrong though)

Hi Neilgy,

Welcome to the scene.

As stated above by my fellow members a V+ is the hardest by all means.

You have to make sure the box has the paired card which hasnt been hit so you can get the bk and ird from it as this is the only way at the moment.
(unless you know someone from VM who can send a hit to the box)
You also have to check the netid of these boxes as some require you to lift the atmel chip and replace or reprogram in order to get the proper net-id setup. Find out which area you are in i.e Pure NTL net id's atart with 000**, EX CW (Cable and Wireless) netid start with 410** and finally EX TW(Telewest) netid start with 409**. Some V+ if from a Pure area and taken to another Pure area set the netid auto. (Most other boxes setnetid auto when taken to a Pure area).
I can suggest you use the search button for previous V+ threads and read about how other people setup their box. This will give you an idea of how easy or hair losing it is.
The equipment as stated by Blakey_8 i.e Unlooper, This is required to unlock your card in order to reqad the bk from it and the there are a few diffrent programmers. Some program an emulator other's program the orginal viewing card.
I personally use the a MOSC (modified original smart card) as with this you dont have to program them often as an emulator
I hope i havent scared you in getting a V+, I personally think they are the best thing since bread and I would'nt give up my box for anything.
Coz with my one I get everything available.

If I have missed/mis-informed or made a mistake please kindly correct me instead of commenting.

Thanks

Thanks a lot for all your help. I knew it would be a lot more complicated that the Starview. I do want to get one of these boxes so i'm going to try to get all the info i can to find out what equipment i need and what i need to do. I have found a website that sells these boxes already setup, that is always an option if i struggle. Thanks a lot for all your time.
