newb questions

hello everyone, i have some questions to ask on cams.

i have a technomate 6900 combo super and a 80cm dish pointing towards 13 and 19, i will be getting a motor in the coming months.

i understand i need a cam if i am to use cards like the al jazeera sports card? so if i were to buy this card it needs a cam that is viaccess 3.0 compatible?

i would like to have a cam that will work with a variety of cards, which cam would be best? dragon cam? i will be most likely getting the al jazeera card and probably the digitalb card and maybe another. i do already have an usb infinity card reader if thats any help.

If I've read the specs of your receiver correctly it has a smart card reader, which should be capable of handling the DigitAlb card, as other Technomate receivers can.
I can't answer about the al jazeera card but other Technomate owners should be able to.
The best Cam at present is the Diablo 2.3, not necessarily for reading cards but because it can currently open Canal Digital, 1W, and DigitAlb, 16E, but you do require a Cas programmer to load the underworld software.

i just had another question, if i were to buy the wireless diablo cam 2.3 does that mean i dont need the cas programmer? because the transfer of files would be done via wifi from laptop to diablo? or do i need the cas?

I think you would still need a Cas programmer to load the Underworld software but you can update the keys using the Wi Fi option.
There are currently 3 types of Diablo Cam:
The Diablo Light, like a normal Cam.
The Zig Bee, formerly knows as the wireless cam, which uses a base station paired to a number of cams.
The new Wi Fi Cam.
