Default Motorised system hotbird pickup problem

I have a Fortec Star Motorised system which i have just put up. I found a guide on the net which told me how to set the system up. I have turned the dish to the right and i can pickup Astra 28.2 but i'm not sure how to setup to get other satellites. I want to get the hotbird satellite how do i do this. I move the dish using the receiver as its motorised but i cant pick it up. Sorry if all sounds a bit weird but i'm new to motorised systems and not sure how to pick up other satellites other than the normal astra. Do i have to centre the dish and then use the motor to find the other satellites or have i done it right where i have moved the dish myself and then use the motor to find other satellites. I have a 90cm motorised dish

Have a read through the sticky threads, especially how to set up a motorized dish,
DiSEqC motor installation guides.
then please post back with your general location.

In summary:-

Pole vertical,
Set latitude on motor,
Enter your location in receiver.
send dish to Thor (0.8W) ( or the sat nearest to your due south) with USALS.
Adjust dish tilt, and swivel motor round pole for best quality signal.
Tighten up.

It should now follow the arc.

No, you have a dodgy fitter.

Yes it is possible to do on 28E, but not recommended.

Most receivers should have 1W programmed in. If not you ideally would need to add it.

why would it not be recommended to set it up at 28E

id imagine if the motor was connected to the reciever and if u told it to point it at 28E then set it up on the bracket would that not be just as effective? if possible at all!

Yes, with USALS it would work, but it is more difficult to get it on the arc properly, although I have done it like that a few times (as there was a minidish nearby to get the angle near enough), and when I sent it to Thor, it was spot on. One problem with 28E is that the signal is so strong, that you can be miles off and still get a signal.

ok that make sence,u use thor the fine tune the motor on the arc

the only reason i ask is because i have only ever 'visited' 28E +19E +13E havent ventured father than that!

what im thinking bout is getting a Sky 40cm minidish off ebay, and have that fixed on 28E and a motor picking up every other satellite!
dont know yet tho! might just get a motor!
but if i bring a cable to another tv il probly get the minidish!

Yes, it is common practice to have a fixed dish for 28E, and a motorised for the rest, especially with a Sky Digibox. Or even be really silly, and motorise a minidish, That is what i started with.
