Question REQ: Help StarView

Hay all,

1st off let me say that I have looked over 40+ pages thrying to find info and dont seem to find what I am looking for so I am not posting to Req help.

I picked up a star view box tonight. Box seems to be working fine but some chanals are locked. I read something saying I shuld do this.

Now I got the box off some kid. It was in the box and came with modem com cable, and box. NO remote.

The kid says its chiped. I am not so shore and with this being my 1st starview I would not know. I can not seem to find softwair to flash images on to it. I did find alot of images thow.

So is ther anyway I can get in to the menu without a remoate?

If not can I do what I need to do on the pc without a remoate?
eg... flash new image.

And wher can I get hold of the app to flash it.

With haveing a dbox2 I had no need for any of this because of ftp but it dont have that.

Allso I am not shore if its a copy or not due to being the 1st one I have seen. So I am posting a image too. (sorry its not grate but maybe you can tell me what box it is.)

Thankyou for takeing time to read my post.

Regards,

Raster.

EDIT:

OK Guys, I have found some tools over at http://www.box.net/shared/126wtvkow8

And downloaded gtrom loader v4.0 and cryptstar 1.4 clonesafe core 257. bin file I then went on to flash the box with it, The box counted to 100 and then the program said it was saved.

I then connected the box to the TV and it was just the same as befor. So now I am thinking that I need to put the codes in. Am I right in thinking this? If so back to the Q can I do it with out the remote? I have orderd one off ebay but still i would like to get the box working.

Thanks again,

Raster.

You need the remote. You have flashed it correctly, but need to turn the key emu on, as above. Then scan on your provider.

Thankyou,

I thort this would be the case. As I put befor I have orderd one on ebay. Hopeing it will not take to long to come. Once I have sorted it I will edit my 1st post to wher to get tools, How to flash and how to put keys in. I know the info is on the forums but its not in one topic.

Meening I am not realy a noob at hacking and when it takes me a day to find the info I am looking for thats not good. When you think how menny forums have this box on and yet the info for flashing it is at best shody.

So if I put all the info in one place then a mod can put it up as a sticky and then ther shuld be less new users asking for help on something that is so simpull to mod.

Regards,

Raster.

There are quite a few guides about. I done one for an SV3 here Starview 3 - Setup Tutorial similar in method, just different firmware, (and loader in later SV2 revisions).

SV1, SV2, SV3, (all in one firmware/loader for an SV3), all use a similar method, SV4 differs as it is flashed via the USB with a memory stick.
