Thanks for the link TwinTown. Less informative than the list I was using h**p://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_channels_on_Virgin_Television but much handier for when I'm just rearranging channels.

Cheers mate.

I think I need to wipe some egg off my face here guys.
Over the past couple of months I've been trying to track down a persistent and constant 50% CPU usage by ehrecvr.exe the whole time my PC's on. It's come back each time despite over a dozen reinstalls.

The reason I'm mentioning it here is because the last couple of days I seem to have it tracked down to me having a TT C-1501 installed without a feed just to sort the EPG! B*ll*cks!

I've now disabled the C-1501 card in Device Manager after scanning and the PC and VMC are both back to perfectly happy. It would appear I missed out one rather vital step in my advice above:
If you're using a C1501 purely to get the cable EPG in VMC, disable it in Device Manager after you've scanned.
Thanks, and if anyone needs me I'll be in the corner feeling foolish....

EDIT: Hundredth post. Yay!

So, you've effectively removed the 1501 and you still have the downloaded guide?

Interesting....

Yeah - although the card is still physically inside the case (I'm lazy). When I put in a second floppydtv, Media Centre recognised the change first time I opened it and asked to do a re-setup to use it. Since I switched off the C1501 Media Centre hasn't said a word about it. Don't know if it's anything to do with the fact I didn't connect an aerial to it, so Media Centre never actually got any channels through it?

On a side note, and touching LOTS of wood, my HTPC has now been rock stable for the past week. This is the longest it's been stable (and able to go without a Windows reinstall) since I first built it, so I think this has finally solved my ehrecvr.exe using 50% CPU problem. SO annoyed that it turned out to be me causing it in the first place!

Now just got one more problem to sort (around channels not decrypting) - the keyroll last week knocked me back a little on finding a solution to that. And then I'll have a fully working and set up HTPC just like I dreamed all year! Almost there.....

Hi again,
I currently have VMC running with a Hauppauge pvr 500, it’s a dual tuner analogue card. My setup works perfectly. However I am in the process of ordering a Floppy dtv, cam, etc with the intention of installing tv pack and introducing dvb-c into the equation. Now the thing i love about VMC is the guide, so does the wife!

I want to keep the analogue card working with the 17 tv channels that it currently works with and also keep the full 14 day guide. I then want to setup the dvb-c card, I am not too concerned if I only get a 3 day guide from the dvb-c card. Is it possible to do this or must i choose one guide for both cards? I know you have found a solution by having two cards installed but the latest on this is that one card then needs to be disabled. As I said I want to continue using my analogue card.

Thanks for your patience!

If you have the TV Pack, you "combine" the channels together - you actually have two guides, but you tell VMC (TVP?) to use one guide for the combined channels.

Having the analogue card still in there is an advantage.

I have to be honest I am still having major problems with the guide and my floppydtv setup ...... I am not sure I would recommend changing over just yet !!

Here is what I have done ......

Fresh install of vista x32/TVpack/updates etc ....
Installed x2 Floppydtv cards and an analogue card (hauppauge 150MCE)
Connected feed to all three cards (analogue card used cable box)
Setup the tv which detected all three cards, and tuned around 378 channels
Disconnected cable box/analogue feed (did not remove or disable card)
Went into guide/channel setup and automatically selected channels (the reason to do this is to prevent error messages saying channel unavailable/conflicts etc etc.....). A good few of the channels in the analogue range (1-999) are now disabled.

Now with the channels (1-999) the guide updates in the usual way.

For the FloppyDTV channels (1000+), again only three days of guide is available, and it updates slowly.

Unfortunately I could put up with this if recording worked properly. It is fine if you press record when the program is on, but scheduled recordings either single episodes or series recording don't work. They continually cancel themselves and do not record. It is a real pain in the ass..... and I think I have just about had enough....

Has anyone actually got this 100% working and reliable????

Hi guys

Finally got round to getting my FloppyDTV and got it installed. Now using the above method of getting the V!rgin channel listing and EPG I have found that I have channels missing rather than doing a regular scan...

However first thing when I was going into that option that gives you the selection for VM you have to put in a SE London postcode otherwise it wont give you the option (One I used was for a dentist SE18 2RU lol)

Now when I scanned I'm missing the newly reinstated Sly channels, a lot of the +1 channels and disney along and only get 2 adult channels?

Has anyone else noticed this?

Gaz, for the channels above 1000, have you merged the listings for the +1000 channels with the VMC guide? eg when you 1st do a scan all the S*y Movie channels will not appear as 401, 402 etc (because naming is slightly diff and VMC cannot match), they will appear as +1000 (and only download 3 dyas worth of guide in stream).

However, if you go to Edit Channels, select a channel above 1000, then edit listings, you can then merge that channel with the correct Virgin listing so that it picks up the full 14 day VMC guide data (tip - when merging type 1st 3 letters of name to search rather than scroll through all the channels - is a lot quicker) Recordings/series then are a lot more stable.

if you have already done this then apologies, wasnt clear from your post if you had done this step.
