However, if you go to Edit Channels, select a channel above 1000, then edit listings, you can then merge that channel with the correct Virgin listing so that it picks up the full 14 day VMC guide data (tip - when merging type 1st 3 letters of name to search rather than scroll through all the channels - is a lot quicker) Recordings/series then are a lot more stable.

if you have already done this then apologies, wasnt clear from your post if you had done this step.

maw123 - No I didn't merge the channels, I just kept them as they were !! Can you explain exactly what I am supposed to do !

I tried with one e.g. "S*y1" this was scanned to channel 1060 in thr floppyDTV range. In the analogue range this was channel 123 I think, and named "S*y One". After the autoselect, channel 123 was disabled by default.

I went into TV settings/guide/edit channel and selected 1060, renumbered it to 123 and it asked me to "swap" or "shift". I chose swap which moved channel 1060 to 123. I then renamed 123 to "S*y One" so it was the same as the original guide, and ran a guide update. I can view the channel ok, but it still only has a guide for 3 days. How exactly do I get it update using the analogue epg ??

By the way all my recording issues appear to be fixed following the recent microsoft update, so if I could fix this everything would be perfect !!

Hi, there was no need to renumber or rename the channel - what you should have done in the case of S*y One was:

- Go to Settings, Guide , Edit Channels
- Select Channel 1060
- click on 'Edit Listings' on left hand side of screen
- it will then give you the option to map channel 1060 to a different listing, and below will list all the channels you receive
- scroll down to S*y One 123 listing (or if you type 'Sky' will take you to channels starting with Sky to save you scrolling) - then select that listing
- it will then give you the option to combine the 1060 and 123 listings, and remove 1060 from the guide - select this option (the 1st one on the screen)
- Save! Then repeat for any other +1000 channels - prob was about a 15 min exercise on my setup, but well worth the effort.

Once you have done this S*y One will pick up the VMC guide data rather than the data in stream (and the channel numbers are a hell of a lot easier to remember as identical to those used on the set top boxes)

Hope that makes sense, if not give me a shout. Cheers

awesome ! Tried it with s*y1 and it worked fine !! Now I just have to find the time to sit down and do all the other channels

Is there any way yet to back up the listings, so if I do a reinstall I don't have to do this again !?

just redone mine because of the recent transponder change - setanta etc changing frequency and v*m have changed a lot of the channel numbers with the new sly channels.

the best way i found is print out the current list from

h**p://www.digitalspy.co.uk/displayepg.php?platform=digitalplus

go to channel 1000 and scroll downward through and renumber the channels u use...use remote click on name edit channel number and save and it returns to the position u were....took me about 1/2 hour with the help of my boy, he knows most of the numbers already lol - photographic memory i think.....

follow maw123 advice of mapping the channels as just changing the number in line with v*m only gives u the 3 day epg.....as maw123 states by mapping u get the full 14-day....

Thanks all - spent an hour or so mapping the channels. Now all have 14days of guide, and after the recent VMC update the recordings work. Back to normal again PHEW

Gaz_az or anyone else who has done this methord, how many channels did you get when you did a scan?

As I mentioned before I'm missing quite a few channels. I've changed my postcode to a few places around the country to get the different headends but I still only getting the same amount.

If I scan without doing this methord I get all the channels but not in order.

and no there not in the 1000's I've gone through the entire channel list and ticked them off.

Is there a way of manually adding the channels? Some of the ones that I'm missing are

Sky 2, Sky 3, GOLD, GOLD +1 and about 30 odd more (inc radio channels)

Any ideas?

Thanks

Do you mean you're missing the channels themselves, or are you missing the EPG for that particular channel?

If you're missing the EPG, try looking in a few odd places - I found GOLD at the start of "G" as it was down as G.O.L.D. and found Sky 2 at the end of "S" as it was Sky Two, etc. Some channels I couldn't find an EPG for - Watch, Watch+1, Sky Movies Screen 2, some of the +1 channels and several of the radio channels.

If you're missing the channel itself then it sounds like your transponder list is missing one (or two). I had that problem and eventually solved it by finding my Net ID frequency for the area and manually altering a FloppyDTV file to go from this frequency upwards in steps of 8000, then again going down until I almost hit zero. I'm sure I've got several frequencies with nothing on them, but I did then find all the channels I was supposed to have.

Also, don't just scan once, try it a couple of times.

AND, if any channel is "Not Broadcasting" at the time you scan (GOLD?), it won't get picked up...
