Default any more epg news ?

Any further update in the epg problem in tvpack2008, when using floppydtv ??

I tried using an analogue tuner, which gave me the 14day tvguide but I found this was not very reliable. A lot of tuner conflicts, failing to change channel and missing recordings. I have since move back to the 3 days epg.

Wish they would fix this problem ? Is it a media centre thing, or do we need a floppydtv driver update ??

I'm in the same position I have looked every where, but any solution that is out there does not work with the TV pack.

Mine's worknig fine. But, the problem halfway a Media Center thing and Floppy DTV thing.

Because the FloppyDTV pretends to be a DVB-T card, Media Center does what it can and gets the guide in stream. Personally, I think that's a big mistake on MS's part - one of the best things about MCE is the guide.

If you bung an analogue card in there, just make sure you either autoscan or disable the analogue card on every channel...

Alternative suggestion that's working out nicely for me (YMMV) is to stick in a DVB-C card as well. I'm using a TT C-1501 as I never got round to ebaying it.
  • Install the DVB-C card and use BDA drivers (so the PC sees a DVB-C card). Don't connect a feed (aerial) to the DVB-C card.
  • During setting up the signal in VMC, it'll recognise the floppydtv's as DVB-T and the DVB-C, but it'll tell you it won't use the DVB-C
  • Select the manual setup option, and tell it you're using cable. Then I get a selection of "cable setup for UK, VM setup for London/SE, or other". I select the VM setup option.
  • Now tell it you want to install the DVB-T card(s) as well.
VMC will now scan and find all your channels (332 in my case). It will then assign the channels it can match to the right channel number from the VM master list and give them the correct EPG. All you need to do is look at the channels above 1000 and assign them to the correct number and EPG. The ones it can't assign are the ones the name doesn't match - e.g the stream says "S*y SciFi/Horror" and the EPG is looking for "S*y Movies SciFi/Horror" so it doesn't match the two.

If you've got an old DVB-C card kicking around, it might be worth a shot. The reason I don't add an aerial feed to the DVB-C tuner is so I don't have to unassign that tuner from the channels (ideal world would be tuner picking up the unencrypted channels, but I couldn't get the C-1501 to do that!).

Hope that jumbled mess makes some sense!

Excellent, makes sense - essentially the same as what I do with an Analogue card. You could probably also try a DVB-S card, it wouldn't surprise me if you could select the correct guide, if not you could use the Sky one!

If you ever fancy taking the BDA card back out and seeing if it still works - post back

I've spoken with Digital Everywhere and they say there's nothin they can do, they just can't get DVB-C to work natively, with TV Pack, even some clever tricks with the BDA drivers (I tried those first). I've asked them if they can get the FloppyDTV to pretend to be a DVB-T AND Analogue so you don't have to run a second card.

They've also said they're working on PIN entry for On Demand

probably a stupid question - but how do I disable the analogue card for every channel ??

You either have to go throug each channel and disable it manually in Edit Channels > Edit Source, OR use the "Auto Select" option in Edit Channels.

Auto Select is easier, but takes ages.
