do i need a pc to boot of USB to flash my 360????

hi all, i have read n read, and have come to the conclusion that on top of the pci sata card ill need i will also need a pc that boots of UsB or is there any other way as my pc doesnt, if not ill build 1 that does but rather know if i dont have to go that route yet.....


i know the usb method is the easiest but is there anotehr method!!!

You can boot from floppy disk or from your C: drive using the NTFS4DOS boot CD. What DVD drive are you trying to flash?

sorry for the delay m8, its a hitachi and its just over 1 year old and already flashed, but my question was realting to a more generic answer, ie is there a universal sata card i can use to flash most type of drives, as i have a couple of friends who want thered oing but dont want to pay the rpice of 50quid of the guy who did mine , im familiar with modems flashing and cable box etc ...and god at soldering.

im glad u have answered the usb question, as i was going to build another computer to boot from usb to do 360's , but as i noow know i dont need to do this, i think ill go the ntfs cd method for booting pc.....

as floppys r unreliable....

can u point me in right direction for making one of these boot cd's ntfs please , or is this drive dependent too.....what is the best sata card is it via if so which chipset please........or is this also drive dependent

i have iprep 101 latest bbulid and i have the slax cd.......
and 360 hackpackrc1,

Bloody Hell £50 I think I need to more then double my prices for flashing then.

Via onboard 8237 or 6421 pci card will be fine and no soldering is needed unless it's an Lite-on drive.

Are you sure your motherboard can't boot usb drive? Which board do you have?
