Problem with window sizes

Not sure if this is the right place to post but here goes ...Im having a problem with my windows not opening as they should Im having to stretch them to fit or press F11 everytime,irritating isnt it ? dont know why this has suddenly started to happen its always been ok till recently,anyone got any suggestions as to a cure ?

Try this....

Open a window and drag the corners of the window until it completely fills the screen. Do not use the maximize button to enlarge the window. Hold down the Ctrl key, keep it depressed, and using the mouse click File and then Exit on the menu bar. Do not use the "X" in the upper right corner to close the window. Your windows should now open in a maximised view/state. If it still opens to a smaller size repeat the above instructions, substituting the "Shift" key for the "Ctrl" key. If you have tried this without success, there may be a stray setting in one of your registry keys.
