Spent ages a few months back trying to get the wife's K800i SIM unlocked urgently. Eventually managed it somehow using the instructions here:

One major problem I had was I thought I knew better than the writer! I kept switching the phone off, then back on. Turns out when he says to take the battery out, he means it as this DOES make a difference to how "off" it actually is! Weird.
