Read my post again. I never said an R4 has or could brick a DS. I said there are other cards with similar names that have.
I recommend the NDSTT over any other card because it is cheaper by a long way, the same as I recommend Dealextreme.com because they are cheaper by a long way. There are clones of the NDSTT and there is a chance of them being rendered useless by firmware designed to stop the clones but it can be reversed easily if you are unlucky enough to get caught by it and it does no damage to the DS. You can buy one for less than a fiver, stick in a MicroSD memory card and have over 1000 games available at no extra cost. Its a no brainer...... Fangio.

I got the R4 for about 13.99 pounds at Dealsniper.com, not only the cheap price, they also have help center to provide the detailed instruction to install the firmware, it is epecially helpful for me without good PC knowledge.

yes you need an micro sd card. When you have that go to the official r4 website and download the "firmware" (basically software that'll allow your r4 to recognise the games you'll also be having on your sd card). Once you've done that you can download any .nds game and copy it to your sd card in order to play them.

What you need....
1 flash cart (I prefer NDSTT from Dealextreme.com as they are the cheapest but get whichever you like) 1 MicroSD memory card (2GB is plenty for around 50 games otherwise you spend ages scrolling through the list) 1 USB Card reader (Try to get one that supports SDHC for futureproofing) The correct firmware for your particular flashcart (This can be downloaded from their site or gbatemp.net. Get the latest firmware to be sure of compatibility with all games) The games themselves. These can be downloaded from many torrent sites or NDS roms specific sites. Additionally I recommend getting some trimming software to reduce the size of the rom files. It cuts off the excess unused space from the file reducing its size. (I have over 1000 games downloaded and have reduced the space they take up from over 50GB to under 42GB using NDSTokyoTrim). Also you can download alternative themes from sites like ndsthemes.com and moonshell software to allow you NDS to play movies and music. Also there are sites dedicated to homebrew software made specifically for the NDS. Fangio
