Just ordered the starview 4 and waitting for it to arrive, but i have a question about the live feed i keep reading on other threads.
I have no subscription to virgin but still have there v-box plugged in and can get the free channels, e.g bbc one. Does this mean i have a live feed? When the starview arrives and i install the firmware, and do the scan, will i have a better selection of channels or will i need to subcribe to the minimum package? Cheers |

to get the free to air channels with the cable you will have a live feed so all should be OK
EDIT : with latest firmware you will get 99% of channels available |

Thanks smoggy
Got the box today, installed the fireware and all is well, chuffed!!! had a few problems with it stopping an 37% when scanning and no sound, but its been ok for 2 hours now. installed 1.01 beta, is it worth putting the 1.02 version on, or is it a case of dont fix it, if its not broken? thanks |

to be honest I don't know what the differences are between the beta and 1.02 (need someone like satsmo to enlighten us)
until you know any different if all is working OK I would just stick with it. |

smoggy 1.01 was having scanning problems but mainly in Ireland. Hence 1.02 but there are still some areas with scan problems, but as you said its Beta and a new firmware is been worked on.
Cannot say if it will be another improved Beta release or a full stable version. The more people give out info on any problems the better. |

Dont know if this makes sense, but on 1.01 firmware the channel listings keep being lost one by one, mainly with the plus 1 hour channels at first, take a few hours altogether before they all disappear. if you turn keycode off them on again they all return and then starts all over again. upgraded to 1.02 last night and so far had no problems and the signal quality is 10% better.
