Default buying a desktop pc

any ideas or help appreciated ,daughter wants puter for xmas ,toyed with idea of laptop ,now thinking desktop ,typical teen msn facebook bebo all that stuff ,any ideas on what one to buy and where to get them ,i know its a vague ? but any help would be great

low end pcs/laptops tend to be crippled with vista and not enough RAM to run comfortably. That's not to say you shouldnt buy one, just expect to pay £15 for an additional 1GB ram. You should get something reasonable in the 200-250 range.

yeah, any LCD tv will work as a monitor, usually with a button to simply switch between the two

Best to make sure that the TV has a suitable input (look at your PC to see the options, eg VGA, DVI ...).
