Default WiFi signal boosting - possible?

Is there a way to boost a WiFi signal? I have a broadband internet+telephone package with a proprietry box connected to the phone line. My main computer is hard wired to the box. Upstairs I have a second computer which I use mainly for composing music. It has a USB dongle for internet and works OK if I keep the door open. However, I also have a bedside internet radio and here the signal strength is not so good.

Is there a way of boosting the signal from my box? Any ideas gratefully received.

Thanks.

If the wireless box has detachable aerials you can connect an external aerial. (external to the box not outside the house!) You can then position this aerial in a more favourable position.

Thanks for that, AS, but unfortunately there isn't an aerial on the box, unless it's inside and I can't see it.

There isn't another box of tricks I could add to the system, is there?

I think I've found the answer - a WiFi repeater/extender. Hercules make one. It seems to be what I have been looking for.
