Default another newbie question

hi folks

can someone answer this question for me please

i have a flashed modem but i need a working mac address

thing is...
i understand that u cant use mac adresses from the same area

so i would need macs from another area preferably 1-6 miles away

if my gateway is ubr01 wals i would need different nodes i.e ubr02 , ubr03
but my question is ......does it also matter what segment the macs are from ?

cud i use macs .e.g ubr02 but from different segments i.s birm / kings etc..
is that feasible

thanks in advance

As long as you use a MAC addy from a segment within your town or city you should be fine - There are approx 10 segments per area depending on the size of the area. You cannot use a MAC addy from another town or city. Your ubr will have a prefix i.e wals01, wals02 or wals03, using a MAC from say Birm01 will not work.

Hope this helps.
