Default Can you use starview with normal internet?

Hi, I used to use my Starview 2 box in Plymouth by having an active cable internet connection. Ive just movwed to a house in Southampton with no cable connection so I now have internet through a telephone line provider.

I was just wondering if I should sell my box now cos it cant be used here or is there another way? eg is there a cable to feed from my broadband modem into the back of the starview box?

Also, if this is the case and I cant use my starview anymore, would you recommend I try and set up my own satelite dish and if so do you get the same channels?

Many thanks for any help with that!!

No wont work with a dish. Is there no way you could get a vm live feed to your new location like get a cheep package or vm broadband.

Well I went with Tisc. cos it was a good deal for broadband and phone. Vm say my postcade comes in their analogue area and to call them for more details. I assume I can get broadband through telephone with them here.

So if I did get Vm broadband I could use my Starview box? Isnt the connection wrong to go in the back of the box??

When I say sateliite dish, I mean sell my Starview and use the other parts of this website to buy bits and set up a new dish from scratch. actually there is some unused old stellite dish on the side of the house...?

Cheers

You will not get the same channels with a sat dish and stb because slys encryption has not been cracked.

From what I can gather you can use the box using (cable) v broadband. If you were to switch to normal v broaband (i.e via the phone line - which is what you would get if in an analogue area) then this would be no good to you.

I hope this is correct as I'm looking to get set up via the v cable broadband route - and if anyone wants to pour loads of advice my way they are more than welcome!! Major dilema choosing which box is right for me/missus to be able to get to grips with

So it looks like my only option for free TV is to try and get the satellite dish on my house going again??
(it looks like its cable has been cut just at groundlevel...is there any hope for me??)
