3. The TV Pack is an add on to Vista Media Center - you don't need it, but I would suggest it if you were rebuilding. You aren't supposed to install over an old copy of VMC, you're supposed to do a fresh install of VMC, then do the TV Pack. As you haven't got it and you're using VMC with an extender at the minute, I wouldn't rush out to get the TV Pack - too much to go wrong...

possibly a repost of information but i'm runing an HTPC on VMCE and have been for aroudn 5 months.. i put fiji on it as it was and had no adverse affects... it's added a very useful info page after each file ends, with a "next" "previous" "delete"etc page.. useful depending on how u store your media.. i'm plannign on formatting as soon as i find my mobo manual (so i know what i'm actually running, driver wise) but i wouldn;t worry too much about installing Fiji on a non vanilla build... if it's a true HTPC your not storing anything vital on it anyway.. give it a blast!

Hi this thread has been quite useful to me...although I'm not sure what most of the abbreviations mean (if anyone could help with that, I would appreciate it). My question - I have a Eurovox max V, Could I buy an mainstream DVB C card and run my eurovox through that into my PC, rather than buying extra equipment? Many thanks.

![]() If you had a dvb-c card to put into your pc, all you'd then need is your cable fed into the back of it and you'd get all the channels available by the carrier (depending on how you configure your chosen software). If you had a dvb-t card in your pc and then you'd only get the fta channels via the cable. Eurovox is really for tv setups only. |

It doesn't have to be a floppydtv - in theory any dvb-c card will work. I say in theory because I couldn't get a technotrend c-1501 to work but I was up and running in moments with the floppydtv! They are expensive, but IMHO they're worth it as they're the easiest to set up by a mile.

With VMC you tell it you have a STB, and use an IR blaster to change the channel on the STB. Slow, and not stunning quality, though. |
